While i dont quite like how it ¨mirrors¨ A New Hope, it sure is an intriguing and cinematic film as helll. The first scene with the Stormtroopers...nobody showed that kind of violence in a SW movie...The flashbacks with Rey are awesome and her fight with Kylo too.

They've taken it down but there was a cool podcast interview with Kasdan and he explains how it's a total inverse of a new hope. People seem to get hung up on that it seems like a retread when in fact it's nothing like it outside some beats and an over familiar design language. If they'd used a different type of planet that wasn't a desert we probably wouldn't even hear any complaint cos that's the first big thing.

Still don't know why rm hasn't ranked Star Wars. Let's make a poll.

Yeah, i know. And i actually agree with you in a lot of your views with this movie. But i still feel there are good moments.

I dont agree with Dime and his theory of the inverted ANH. Its basically a gritty reboot of that.

Watched this last night. Rey was great casting, still don't like Finn or Kylo actors, and when they got back to rebel base after Han died, it bothers me that Leia went to Rey first instead of Chewie.

It was. I'm glad JJ has admitted that it was a mistake.

TFA is a flawed film, for sure. It's not perfect. But it is a lot of fun. And there is so much about it that I enjoy. And I happen to think the casting was pretty great across the board. Save maybe Hux. Maybe.

Hux was an awful cast as it stands now. Im interested to see how the character grows. Obviously this is a young administration running the new order etc... so by film 8 and 9 he could certainly grow out of a whiny little child

Are we still talking about star wars or america? Whatever.

God, I have never needed star wars more in my life.

The biggest trick they missed was at the start of the Kylo-Rey lightsaber duel.

The dialogue should have gone:

Kylo: "You don't understand how this works. The person with my accent is the hero who wins, and the person with your accent is the villain who loses."

Rey: "Not this time."
So basically, Johnson and May spent Trump's presidency fighting each other over how best to sell the NHS to Trump.

It certainly helps to forgive some of the film's flaws.

I will Kylo more if they take the character to a different path. Im into him going to the light again instead of going for the Vader route.

Agreed.
I had the thought earlier today of him actually donning Vader's helmet and mask.
