Or a train wreck.

I'm hoping for the former though.

I think that the best thing going for this song (and what adds to its punk credentials) is that it wouldn't fail by being a trainwreck.

Stone looks like he wandered on to set by accident and crouched down in the back so he doesn't ruin the shot.

I want to hear what the slightly down-tempo heavy stuff sounds like. If there is any. Which I hope there is.

I'm just glad it's not a pop song. Sure it's another punk style song that they always seem to launch as their lead single these days, but there are elements to this song that I like. It's less shiny than the Fixer, and heavier without being too abrasive like comatose. Let's just see how it goes after hearing a few more times.

I guess I wish they'd go back to the initial riff / rhythm for a section of the song, possibly for the end section. But well, we have what we have, no point wishing it was different.

I do think I'll wear it out if I listen too much longer, simply because it's not complex. It's straight up punk; its rewards are instant and it won't serve constant play without a bigger context for very long.

This is a lot better than what I expected, and the artwork is cool too. Lighting Bolt is still a stupid name, though. I've said all along it would be great if Pearl Jam could do something similar in quality to what Soundgarden did with King Animal. They are off to a good start as I rate MYM above Been Away Too Long.
