Nah. Everything will crash again within a few years. Especially where I love. Stuff is already getting close to peak pricing.

Why would limiting Dodd-Frank cause the housing market to crash?

Because it removes the limitations on what caused it to crash in the first place.

I'm not entirely sure that's how it works.

It absolutely upped the ante on quality appraisals and higher regulations on who could become an appraiser. higher education standards. So many regulations that are a pain in the ass but are protecting the entire valuation process. Absolutely a huge part.

There are parts of Dodd-Frank that include decent regulations and make sense. The stress test and capita requirements are two such things in my opinion. (Are the capital requirements even still in place?)

But we don't know exactly what Congress would change about it, and bank lending practices were largely altered as a direct result of the crisis before Dodd-Frank went into place, anyway.

I'm not saying Dodd-Frank should or shouldn't be repealed, but the idea that repealing/changing it is going to lead to the crash of the housing market sounds a little...hysterical.

Now I see why they use the word hysterical. That was really fun to just totally disregard people's concerns and then imply that they're crazy for being worried.

It was kind of a rush.

It's like the whole administration has a list of all things that are or can be good for our country then they do the complete opposite of that. It's like they watched that SEINFELD episode where George did the opposite of his instincts and things started working out for him. But they don't remember it all fell apart because at his core, George is a loser.

I've been a real estate appraiser for 14 years for the record. It's not hysterical. It's a very real concern.

These are some of the reasons I have concerns with the repeal. I do not think it's a good idea to allow banks to stretch themselves to the breaking point on the backs of taxpayers, but it's just the kind of thing modern republicans seem to love.

Can you elaborate specifically regarding how repeal of Dodd-Frank could realistically be a proximate cause for housing crash?
