compression nerds, let's see some comparisons to last two albums please.
Yes, please. It seems to sound better to me on my headphones. But maybe that's the honeymoon talking.
Sounds good to me on headphones but I'm nowhere near as nerdy about sound as some people on here. Nothing is as distracting as S/T volume-wise. That album would distort if it was loud. This doesn't, at least not in my headphones.
Here's what I see:

and in context this means better, same, worse than last 2 records?

Better than S/T for sure

Which is good. Because that's the one that bugs me the most.

MYM appears to have the least amount of clipping, so that's a good thing. The production does sound better, although there is still some compression being applied, but not to the extent of previous efforts.

I'd like to see PJ get back into their vinyl obsession and start using some more dynamic mastering.

That's the band's way of saying "he's not really in the band but we didn't want to hurt his feelings and tell him to go get a snack or something while we take this photo shoot for the album."

Somebody else snuck behind Mike too.

Very possibly. You are more well-versed in punk than me.

It's not a very dynamic song in general, so to some degree it's hard to tell. But you'll note that the stuttering intro is every bit as loud as the sections where everybody's going full force and there are layered vocals on top. That should tell you a lot about how the dynamics have been effected.

Yeah, the production is going to suck again, sadly. At least the song is pretty decent...

I'm still not 100% sure those are the words. But, if they are, I think they work really well in the context of what Ed's trying to say about how ridiculous the concept of prayer is. Like you could pray about it. Or you could do anything else. Not his best effort, but not at all what I would call bad.

Hey! Finally got the chance to listen to this. I really dig it! It's sharp and rough in all the ways Supersonic absolutely was not. If Pearl Jam wants to play in punk rock, I think they've finally figured out how. This kinda rips.

Ed needs to give John Cougar Mellencamp (or whatever he goes by these days) his clothes and hair back...

He's sad up until he cashes those tour checks.
