It might help but its not a super amazing movie so who cares.

I enjoyed these movies though. Dumb fun.

I watched this a few weeks ago. Solid 7/10 for just being a nice little diversion-y movie with a fresh vision.

I still can't tell if it's a fresh and interesting dissection of male relationships and masculinity in general in the modern age. Or if it's just a 90 minute fart joke.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

there was less farting than i was led to believe

i do think it was an interesting dissection as you mentioned, while being really funny at the same time (not just the farts)

Immediately following the film, Mrs DcT and I had a long conversation about SAM and how we felt about it. The longer we talked and thought, the clearer it became that we thought it was kind of a stupid movie. I don't think the film is trying to deconstruct anything. Or at least, anything meaningful. And IF it is... it's missing the point and the whole thing comes across as a giant joke. When I call it a "fat joke" I don't mean it literally, though that is CLEARLY part of it. I mean, it's sophomoric and immature in whatever analysis it's attempting. And it doesn't even totally succeed on the level of humor it's attempting.

At least, I don't think so. Or does it? I really can't tell.

whether it's successful in what it's trying to deconstruct/dissect i do agree is up for debate...but at the end of the day i enjoyed it

Yeah it wasn't great. Better than the last one, at least.

And I don't disagree. I laughed a lot. It really wasn't until well after the fact that I started to doubt what I'd seen. I've still to this day never had an experience quite like it. I really don't know what to make of that fucking movie.

I thought Days of Future Past was totally fine. Not great, not terrible. Just fine. I liked First Class a lot more.
