Re: Super Bowl LI: Belichick vs. Dimitroff/Pioli
Why the entire FUCK didn't BB go for 2 on that first TD? If he had and failed to convert, his team would have been in the exact same situation they found themselves in. But if they'd converted, there never would have been an OT.
For a guy who's revered as a genius, he sure seemed to fucking miss the forest for the trees there.
Also, congrats, Pats fans.

This was the first ever American football game I've watched
All the usual complaints apply (WHY SO MANY GODDAMN PAUSES) but it got pretty exciting there at the end

I'm a big fan of defensive football. So, the first quarter was the only part of the game that was all that interesting to me.

Why didn't he call a timeout when the Seahawks were inside the 5? No one will ever know for sure, he does these sorts of things all the time, but I imagine it had something to do with how the Pats were performing in short-yardage situations up until that point (i.e., not well).durdencommatyler wrote:Why the entire FUCK didn't BB go for 2 on that first TD? Re: Super Bowl LI: Belichick vs. Dimitroff/Pioli
you know he wouldn't have gone for 2 if down by a point after scoring the last TD, and instead would've kicked to force OT. so OT was inevitable whether or not he went for 2 on the first TD.durdencommatyler wrote:I'm clearly smarter than the best coach in NFL history? Do I know that? Is that a BB thing? Seems fucking stupid. Seems especially stupid when you're down 21 to 3 in the the third quarter.Chris_H_2 wrote:you know he wouldn't have gone for 2 if down by a point after scoring the last TD, and instead would've kicked to force OT. so OT was inevitable whether or not he went for 2 on the first TD.durdencommatyler wrote:I'm clearly smarter than the best coach in NFL history? But whatever. It worked out fine, as usual, as predicted, for the Pats. All of this conjecture is meaningless.

Re: Super Bowl LI: Belichick vs. Dimitroff/Pioli
Silver lining; trying to take an opposite of sour grapes approach here.
The Atlanta Falcons are my favorite team in all of sports, always have been. There has definitely more bad than good, more thin than thick. Even when they made the playoffs a disappointing let down of an ending was inevitable. My earliest athletic related memory is an infamous early 80s playoff loss against Dallas when Danny White led a late come from behind rally to win. But this Falcon team was different. For a little while on Sunday I truly felt my favorite team was about to be Super Bowl Champions, an experience I had never felt. Ever. While the feeling was fleeting it was real. While a gut punch followed I did get that experience and for that I am grateful. No parade or banner to raise but I did get a little taste of that excitement.
I know it may not sound like much but there are several fan bases that haven't had even that.

I can relate to all of that Biff. I don't remember Danny White, Billy White Shoes. Mine start the worse period after that with Gerald RiggsBiff Pocoroba wrote:Silver lining; trying to take an opposite of sour grapes approach here.

He says he didnt call the timeout because he thought the Seahawks looked confused and felt it was better to let things play out than give them time to regroup.Simple Torture wrote:Why didn't he call a timeout when the Seahawks were inside the 5?
