Take a look a the giant one-eyed bolt-adorned figure in the artwork that went along with the “Lightning Bolt” announcement today (see still frame in album announcement video above). Then ponder this: In greek mythology, Zeus set the Cyclops free and they rewarded him with the gift of thunder and lightning.
I think the album title makes much more sense in this context. Isn't one of the rumoured tracks called "Sirens"? Maybe there's something to this?
There's such a fine line between clever and stupid.
 I'm just trying to make the album title somewhat digestable.
Nice try
Though Im pretty sure it will grow on me or the context of the album will help it a lot

I would've preferred "Zeus Sets Cyclops Free." And, kept the same artwork.

People shitting themselves over an album title was pretty funny at first. now...

Its been that way for a long time.
If you take a basketball team and replace a mediocre player with Michael Jordan then doesn't that team instantly becomes waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better? They are still playing the same game and using the same ball but now things are different out there. Now you get the wow's and the excitement and the team is kicking ass. I think if you took any of the greatest bands ever and replaced the singers with mediocre ones then they would be "meh" even with the songs we all think are amazing. Part of what makes amazing songs are the artists who are performing them. I'm sure Like A Rolling Stone would have sucked ass if John Mayer wrote and sang it.

:haha: I have a point here even if I can't even get myself to understand what it is.

I'm pretty sure Plat was saying if someone told you this EXACT sounding song was actually by The Foo Fighters or something, many wouldn't like it. You could probably make the same argument about people hating the album title.

This is literally what I've been thinking about every shit PJ song that everyone inexplicably likes. I'm glad people are starting to realize I was right.
Even if so - a lot of us love Eddie Vedder as a singer...so.... ?

I dont get this point that Jorge is trying to make. I dont think anyone here has stated this song is some break through in rock music. But it has all tickled our fancy in one way or another.

That's how it is for me for the most part. It's not that I like every Pearl Jam song. But if you take a brand new song that I never heard before, have Pearl Jam play it, and have another band play it, I'd like the Pearl Jam version better.

Yea and i dont understand why this is a bad thing or why we shouldnt then like this song

Of The Earth, Ole, and now MYM. I like em all. In fact, I think they are pretty great songs. Not Earth-shattering by any means, but still. A streak is a streak.

My hopes are raised.

It's not a bad thing, but it evinces some kind of failure in critical thinking. The idea that a song is made inherently better or more enjoyable just because it's being played by this particular group of people, performance or songwriting themselves notwithstanding.

Do things need to pass through a mathematical equation for you to enjoy them?
