If you're unfamiliar, it is my opinion that you should start with "Coastal Grooves" and proceed chronologically to more fully appreciate his artistic progression. I haven't tried out his earlier projects yet, but Blood Orange has quickly become one of my favorite things in the whole wide world.Kevin Davis wrote:I like both of those songs a lot, Kaius.

Re: Now Playing
I'll definitely be checking out more based on those videos. As an aside, I've always struggled with the "start at the beginning and go chronologically" thing -- I feel like I always want to lock into the most current thing (unless I have reason to believe it sucks), and work backwards as the spirit moves me. If it's an artist with an extensive, established discography, I usually just look for a commonly-agreed-upon starting point or points. Starting at the beginning would make me feel impatient, unless that's where I had reason to believe I'd be getting the best stuff.

Re: Now Playing
Well, it's only 3 albums, but I'm not going to work hard to convince you either way. I think his best work is last year's "Freetown Sound", but it is a long record and I felt like it was a lot to process* even having heard what came before.
You know yourself, so you do you. I'll be waiting patiently to hear your thoughts either way.
*it is chocked full of captivating bridges and almost countless catchy hooks, so I thought it prudent to clarify that "a lot to process" does not mean it is a difficult listen.

Re: Now Playing
I didn't mean that to sound combative, it was more just a general observation. People often recommend starting at the beginning and going chronologically with new artists, and I never follow their advice. And it's probably good advice most of the time!

Re: Now Playing
We aren't combatting. You should probably go with "Freetown Sound", KD. You're a well-seasoned listener and i get the impression you like historical, cultural, and political fervor entwined with your most-excellent jams.
