Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Yeah i was thinking about her...she kinda fade into oblivion. Williams is great in Manchester By The Sea tough. Her scene with Casey Affleck is the best part in a dull movie.

They'll ride the success of the Lego-comic connection. Lego sin city is next

If you like Tom Hardy in Locke, try David Oyelowo in Nightingale. Both great movies living and dying entirely on the back of a single great actor. I would say that Nightingale and Oyelowo aren't quite as good as Locke and Hardy, but---to be fair---that is a very high bar. It's a very good movie, though, and he's great in it.

Yeah I'd say they're pretty equal if anything. Both have a really solid body of work in a nice mix of films over the past decade.

The only one I wish wasn't on your bottom list is The Shallows, otherwise, yeah I agree with most of those bottom ones, although I haven't seen Manchester yet.

Probably would be ranked in the bottom 10 if I ever watched them: Moonlight, The Birth of a Nation, La La Land, Deadpool, Captain America: Civil War, Nocturnal Animals

Potential for top 20 when I get around to it: Paterson

Y'know, for all your bellyaching about film culture and unengaged audiences, this is a pretty film culture-y thing to do, I hope you know that
