Interested to see if 2017 can add some games to the list. There's some serious potential this year.

Absolutely. Between Nioh, Breath of the Wild, For Honor, Horizon, Persona 5, Mass Effect, Mario Odyssey, and Red Dead there is some serious firepower. Most of the games are in the first half of the year too.

Nioh looks boring to me (I don't really like hack and slash).

Breath of the Wild looks amazing, jealous of you Switch owners.

For Honor E3 footage was killer, but I did watch some gameplay footage from the beta last week, and my enthusiasm came down a few pegs. It also looks like a hack and slash, albeit a more advanced one.

Horizon -- Funny that someone mentioned they hoped it would build on Far Cry. I was watching footage a few days ago, and thought "It looks like a more boring Far Cry." But I will still try to check it out.

Persona 5 -- I have no idea what this is.

Mass Effect I've never played, but LV and the footage have piqued my interest.

Mario Odyssey looks like a bad game to me.

I will definitely be getting Red Dead Redemption 2.

Not a fan of Super Mario 64 or Sunshine? This appears to be a spiritual successor to both.

Also, I don't think Nioh is a hack and slash, it is very strategic and brutally difficult. More of an action puzzle game.

I loved Mario 64, didn't play sunshine. But the real-world setting looks like a total buzzkill.

Yea, not sure about Bloodborne, Nioh, games of that ilk. I watch footage, and the fighting seems similar to Assassin's Creed: attack, attack, attack, block, wait, attack. I don't really enjoy that. But if there's much more to it than that, then perhaps I'm missing something?

I have a feeling the real world setting is either the hub world (similar to the castle in Super Mario 64) or just a level. I think it is a little off, but could be incredibly charming.

SMB3 beats Goldeneye handily for me. (SMB1 isn't particularly great).

SMB3 is in my top 3 of all time. I'll go to my deathbed saying it is better than Super Mario World.

Agreed that SMB3 > SMW.

Never liked SM64. Haven't played enough Galaxy (1 or 2) to rate properly. The side scrolling Wii and WiiU games probably rank below SM2. They'd stand a chance of being ranked higher if they were longer and harder

6 or 7. The other world was blocked by the coin collecting. A real pain in the ass if you didn't have multiple people to play the other levels with.

I wouldn't count out Super Mario Maker Deluxe for the Switch in 2018. Seems like Nintendo's strategy is to port all of the big Wii U games to the Switch. Not a bad strategy at all.
