I typically have zero issue with changing a superheroes ethnicity or gender but Bruce Wayne is a blue blood elite who's families wealth dates back well over a hundred years to the very beginnings of Gotham. He's white. Could be a woman though.

I look forward to watching a 2 hour Batman movie where Batman never takes a punch.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

She's old money too. You could change that of course. Bottom line you'd have to fundamentally change Bruce's back story to swap his ethnicity. He really is a uniquely white character. It would be like making Black Panther white. He's from a long line of African Kings. Batman's successor could be black. You could make Terry McGinnis black or even Damien Wayne or Dick Grayson.

I was thinking something such as: young African American kid witnesses parents killed by bad cop during routine traffic stop. He then lives through childhood in foster care, in and out of trouble. He's eventually taken in by one of Gotham's oldest, loneliest magnates as some kind of late-life PR move. Kid takes a liking to old man, gets adopted, learns and travels and inherits his fortune after he suspiciously dies on a business trip.

Then he falls in hole and gets lifted out by bats.
