Yeah, it's like serving soup that never cools at 250° and expecting the customer to wear a dental dam so as to not burn their tongue.Birds in Hell wrote:I also deeply resent the idea that you should need to wear hearing protection to enjoy what's meant to be an aural experience.
I'd rather stay home than feel as though I need earplugs.

Or going to a movie with the expectation that the screen will be so blinding that you bring sunglasses as a matter of course. It's crazy.

On the one hand, it's seriously (and potentially dangerously) loud, even I had to resort to earplugs halfway through as I was beginning to get a headache. On the other, it was full of loud drunk idiots which is hardly the kind of environment I'd willingly subject my kids to. I'm not sure what it is about rock concerts in particular that causes people to feel as though basic politeness and consideration of those around you become irrelevant concepts the moment you walk through the doors (and, good lord, don't get me started on the state of the men's toilets).

I've seen Garbage twice, most recently a couple months ago. They put on a really good show

I got Jason Isbell tickets for June. I saw him once w/ the Truckers, but haven't made it to anty of his recent shows in my area for one reason or another.

Is there any worry that he's going to get burnt out? It seems like he's been touring constantly for about 3 straight years. That can take a toll on mind and voice.
