What movies are you watching?

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

The cruelty between the couple I could live with, even though their relationship is clearly toxic and terrible. It's the cruelty they dish out to everyone around them, and the way the movie sets up a perspective in which this is is supposed to be funny and the people they abuse are made to look crazy, that I can't stomach. Ugh. What a despicable movie.

Yea, it's a good point -- all the non-family members really are unceremoniously treated like shit.

They really are. The Melissa McCarthy scene was the worst for me. These ADULT assholes verbally abused her CHILD, and she is made out to be in the wrong somehow?! Fuck you, Judd Apatow.

I think he got too self-conscious maybe? He cant do a movie without having celebrity cameos, really fake characters, all these movies are 3 hours long...its just a mess.

I loved it

I was really bummed out when i saw it. Its so long and the pace is just..boring. Its almost a decision....the only thing i liked was the scene with Casey and Michelle.

I really enjoyed this movie. Especially the pace. I thought the pacing was outstanding. It's so slice-of-live. It's not afraid to take it's time and really live in a moment. I wasn't bored once. The movie felt much shorter than it's 2:17 running time.

It's not Best Picture of the year. Not by any stretch. And I also think Casey's performance is way oversold. He's certainly competent, in fact, he's really good. But this isn't the performance of the year. Or the performance of the decade. Or one of the best, most transformative performances you'll see. Or any of those bloated hyperbolic phrases you're hearing all over the place. Michelle Williams kills it. Kyle Chandler is outstanding. Casey Affleck is great.

The movie isn't as difficult or depressing as I expected. It's got a wonderful humor to it. And it's so beautifully shot. I get not liking the movie, especially if you're someone who doesn't like a slower pace or things that take their time, but it's a well made film. Perhaps it's overrated but it's still a really good experience. Glad I saw it. And I look forward to watching it again.

Knocked Up is completely underwhelming and forgettable. I haven't seen Funny People. Trainwreck isn't leagues better, but it's better than Knocked Up. Though, still not a great movie.

Oh i adore movies that take their time. I dont consider this one one of those..i felt it was just doing it because it felt it had to....and he had a very good story and a cool cast...he didnt need that. I also dont think is bautifully shot...were? the shots of the nature? the ocean?? it was all pretty average, almost tv looking for me.

I liked Prince Avalanche..the soundtrack is great and i loved those two characters...hated Manglehorn though. It was so fucking bad.
