Most of the stuff I see on Bandcamp seems to be around $8

$12 seems pretty high for digital, especially when the CD is $13

But I don't think every fanbase does this the way Pearl Jam fans do. I don't find myself seeing/hearing U2 fans be like "I went to see if they had the new single but I still haven't found what I'm looking for," or Smiths fans being all "We'd trade bootlegs with you, but you just haven't it earned it yet, baby."
