most definitely (no song can sustain the amount of listening you'd normally be investing into an entire album, and it's not like this one was swinging for these fences to begin with) but a record should invigorate it.dimejinky99 wrote:All that may be true but we're all gonna be long tired of this before we any of us hear the record or hear it live.

Troof. Which is why we need to limit our listens. No one song can keep us waiting for that long.dimejinky99 wrote:All that may be true but we're all gonna be long tired of this before we any of us hear the record or hear it live.

Motorhead are basically a punk band per their own admission (and, obviously, their sound), so I agree with this.Birds in Hell wrote:Well, not so much Guns n Roses, more this:harmless wrote: I find it to be punk, but I also hear the 80s hair metal Guns-n-Roses thrash arguments as well.

Well, they are playing Wrigley next week aren't they?
We will definitely hear this and one other I'm betting.

It is probably just wishful thinking but I feel like we are going to get another song or two between now and then. Which would be awesome.harmless wrote:Troof. Yes, OK I can see that. Which is why I mentioned bike leathers and knuckle dusters.Birds in Hell wrote:Well, not so much Guns n Roses, more this:harmless wrote: I find it to be punk, but I also hear the 80s hair metal Guns-n-Roses thrash arguments as well.

Also, two things: on the album artwork (if that's what it is), that black shape looks like the top of a jukebox. Which calls to mind these classic 'rock' sounds and makes me think we'll get another slightly retro-leaning album but hopefully a slightly more successful one.
And 'Lightning Bolt' isn't sounding like such a terrible title anymore given the artwork but also given what I'm thinking of is the style. The lightning bolt symbol is classically put on cars, leather jackets, and anything classically METAL AS FUCK, so if they deliberately wanted to go fun and stereotypical, it's OK that they did it this way. It's maybe not meant to be serious, it isn't, so it's fine. But also, given the fact that MYM is taking a shot at religious fundamentalism, it's possible that the 'Lightning Bolt' is referring to the act of God / divine intervention / miracle thing as well. Which would be another nice theme to bring in, if they do.

On the other hand, I might be blowing everything up way out of proportion and joining the dots more intelligently than they did, which is what happened in the Backspacer speculation. So I guess we'll just hope the three months gets here quickly, and in the meantime I'll just rock out to this song. In 12 tracks there's a lot that could possibly go wrong.

What if they named it "Lightning Bolt" because MYM aside it's actually a bunch of tender acoustic ballads, perfect for staying in during rainy days

Do you think they'll be a video or would they have released it the same time as the song?

I think we had Life Wasted long before we had the video. And Soundgarden fans also got BATL a while before they got the video. So who knows?

The lyrics go from "I'm just saying..." to "No longer saying... / "I'm just praying..." a couple of times at the end.

This song for me is like STBC, Comatose, Brain of J and Supersonic went dogging.
