Kindle Jailbreaking

Post by B »

Anyone know reliable instructions for jailbreaking a new kindle? I did that with my old one, but had to retire it. Now I have a new one, and when I google instructions, they all have me scared that I'm going to brick it.

I have an 8th generation kindle running 5.8.5.02 firmware.

Here are the instructions I'm looking at. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showt ... p?t=275877
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Dear Amazon, if you would just let me choose my own damned pictures for screensavers, I wouldn't have to spend hours trying to get shitty jailbreaking programs and shitty hacks to work right!

Wait, you're going to void the warranty and risk destroying your device so you can...change the screensaver?

It was a minor risk. I jailbroke my last one. Well worth the risk to not have to look at this image any more.

I mean, how long are you actually looking at that image though? Shouldn't you be watching something on it instead of staring at screensaver images?

Enough that it makes me mad that I can't choose what shows on that screen.
