Yoda's evil dark side is... one of the most terrifying things I've ever seen. Fuck.

Watching the 2003 Clone Wars series. I know it isn't technically canon. And the action is absurd. But thank god for this. I'm finally getting backstories and explanations and origins for characters I love. No wonder the 2008 series feels so disconnected, like you're staring in the middle of the story. Because you are. They cherry picked stuff they liked from 2003 and then moved forward without retelling those stories.

I'm so glad I'm watching this. Weird as it is. Dumb as it can be.

Yeah his voice is a bit of a miss. Not a deal breaker, though.

Finished this up last week. It's all so bittersweet. Some general thoughts... The show really progressed well, but there seems like another season, or maybe 2, could have worked (even just extending that final "Lost" season another 10 episodes or so). I guess the political stuff is always a little drab, but another Pamdme / Bail / Mon Motha episode could have worked. As well as the Ashoka aftermath. Having a show heavy with Palpatine and Tarkin would have been nice too.

The Ahsoka and Yoda arcs were great, and as heavy, if not heavier, than anything we've seen in SW. A few things I wasn't crazy about with the Yoda arc...
Spoiler: show
1. R2. Really wish R2 had little to no interactions with the primary characters (especially Anakin and Yoda). That's not to say I don't like R2, I do. He's maybe my favorite droid (sorry Chopper), I just don't like that he's chummy with Luke's dad and Yoda. Like if Bail owned him and 3P0, that would be fine.

2. Degobah. I feel like that whole planet is a missed opportunity. Luke's "there's something familiar" line to me means he should have been born there (not the CW's fault of course). In the CW, I feel like more questions just got piled up. So the cave, what's up with it? Was it once a Sith training ground or something? Why is it so evil? I think I recall a really old school idea where the cave was a Clone training facility, and the clones were evil Jedi clones (memory is foggy, but like back in the 80's / 90's I thought I heard something like that).
A few things I did like:
Spoiler: show
1) That vision. Wow, that was downright scary.

2) Sith history, it's get to get a little more background about them. Expanding on Bane and canonizing him is cool since he's like the modern era sith's "god father".

3) Don't think it was a Yoda one, but Anakin flew off the handle over jealousy. That guy was hitting on Padme and Anakin lost his shit. That was intense, and opened the door to Padme fearing him. I guess it makes him choking her in ROTS a little more believable.

4) The 5's arc was really good too. Really driving hime the fact that these clones view themselves as individuals. Adds more weight to the prequels than just thinking "meh, it's a bunch of clones vs robots".

Good thoughts, d_v.

Ultimately, I think this show really won me over in S2. And once it grabbed me, it never let go. There are some misses and clunkers to be sure, but man, overall, I just loved this show. One of my all time favorite Star Wars things.

Night Sisters/Ventriss stuff (that episode with the fall of the night sisters and the battle between Ventriss and Grievous was insane)
Brother-sister-father
