So if the album drops on October 15th, when is the EP afterwards coming out? Per Mike, shouldn't we have like 4 or 5 EPs by now?

He's still on record for saying this album has a "Pink Floyd sound to it."

You basically just distilled last night's epic argument into one sentence, except now you're on the side of the dancers. Such a romantic you are after all. :luv:

It's not trying to be anything other than a pop song/crowd interaction song.

MYM has all sorts of affectations which I'm having trouble warming to, though I do think its a good song.

I just think Fixer and WWS were better songs, but I like this one fine, too.

Of the last 8 singles (the ones I can remember my reaction to) I would rank them like this (my immediate response)

1. World Wide Suicide
2. Given To Fly
3. The Fixer
4. Mind Your Manners
5. I Am Mine
6. Spin the Black Circle
7. Nothing As it Seem
8. Who You Are

I'm not sure positive about 6-8
BUT WHAT ABOUT TEN??? THIS LIST IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT TEN!!!

that's pretty much accurate...

initial listen was: "welp, it's a new Pearl Jam single alright" and that I didn't dislike any bit of it really.

after a handful of listens yesterday and this morning, i'd say i'd put it around 7/10 or so... the bridge is paint by numbers PJ, but also much better than the verses or chorus. the last 20 seconds or so is pretty great as well.

i think if you've made it this far and still like PJ, you should at least enjoy it somewhat, but I have also seen very little SUPER EXCITED comments over it either, other than from a few fanboys/girls, which i think makes sense.

i definitely like it more than the rockers on Backspacer, which isn't exactly praise, but still bodes well

A single bolt of lightning contains 5 billion joules of energy, enough to power a household for a month.
Pearl Jam has set the bar pretty high here.

I went from not being super impressed to having it grow on me. I don't really give a crap about the artwork or the titles. Lightning bolt reminds me of the name of a horse in an old spaghetti western and MYM is something our grandma would tell us to do.

'ace of spades' reminds of me of playing cards with my pop-pop, i.e., everything is pointless without context.
