Re: Pearl Jam (Avocado) [Deluxe]
Hi
I'm really late with this one, as I've just discovered it right now
I Don't know if this one is still available, but if so, I'd like somebody could send me a link to get it...
I've read there is something similar with Binaural, so I'd like to get a link for that one too
How many of these type of releases are circulating?
Thanks in advance

Re: Pearl Jam (Avocado) [Deluxe]
I wonder why people lump Avocado in with Backspacer and Lightning Bolt as one of their 'uninspired albums'. General consensus on this board seems to be they've been coasting since Riot Act and they don't spend enough time on the albums.
But by all accounts the recording of Avocado was an absolute slog and they were hunkered down in the studio for months. It has none of the B'OB sheen of Backspacer or Lightning Bolt either. They put a lot of effort into this record and I like it a lot. I request that the 'post Riot Act moneygrab' be renamed to 'post Avocado moneygrab'

It's better than Riot Act and way, way better than anything they've done since.

I almost posted the same thing in another thread, but didn't think it was the right thread for such a post, so I abandoned the post. I agree. "Avocado" was the first album where I wasn't impressed by most of the songwriting, plain & simple. The tour was pretty good though, especially the Pacific Rim leg.lecherouslittlestump wrote:I wonder why people lump Avocado in with Backspacer and Lightning Bolt as one of their 'uninspired albums'. I completely agree with this. I come back to this album (and shows from this tour) far more than I do Riot Act or its tour. Lyrically it's a weaker album than its predecessor but it hits a lot harder, and getting through it isn't the slog that Riot Act is for me. But I also love "Life Wasted" and "Come Back", both of which seem to be hated on this board.Birds in Hell wrote:It's better than Riot Act and way, way better than anything they've done since.

Life Wasted is great. Come Back is the opposite of that.matt reeder wrote:I completely agree with this. I come back to this album (and shows from this tour) far more than I do Riot Act or its tour. I just wish the album was recorded better. I really don't like the sound of it.

The "unbrickwalled" version does make it sound a little better.
