i dunno i figure there probably is audio/video of the 'grab em by the pussy' guy out there somewhere that is incriminating enough ... just a matter of getting Mitch McM and Paul "RATM" Ryan on board to make the switch

I don't know what you mean. My sense of Carter has always been that he was a contentious president, but respected by liberals in the years since. I must be missing something?Simple Torture wrote:I am on board with that, I think, but there's a chance that he's a more scandal-prone Carter than a stupider Nixon, if you know what I mean.tragabigzanda wrote:Not just that, though. I just don't think it's within his capacity to not torpedo his own presidency.Simple Torture wrote:I think some other scandal needs to come up / something else needs to happen for this to even become a possibility. Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
Watching this walking trainwreck of a human being stumble his way through the presidency is a thing of beauty. My only hope is that the Republicans don't get sick of him. He is a great wrecking ball of the status quo, in a horribly accidental sort of way.
But if Russia was fishing for preferential treatment, they seem to have failed. I'm not sure one can truly be an ally of Trump.

What I was going for was: I think, in general, that if he continues down the path he's going down, he could end up as a one-term president that leaves very unpopular (like Carter) as opposed to someone who's forced from office (Nixon). Carter has certainly grown in stature over the years, but his rhetoric during some tough economic years in the late '70s set the table well for Reagan's "morning in America" schtick.tragabigzanda wrote:I don't know what you mean. I was pondering about a week ago how many Oscar-grab biops would come out of this. Steel for sure.96583UP wrote:i can't wait for all the tell-all books that will come of this trainwreck

He has a point about Clapper, though he's by no means the only one saying there was no wiretap.
Thing is, not to minimize the importance of this, but it can't be that surprising. It's Donald Trump; he just says shit the minute it pops into his mind. This is the guy that read some stupid article about Ted Cruz' dad, and suddenly Cruz is related to the man who killed JFK. It is darkly humorous seeing his comms staff to try plan strategy around whatever word salad came out on Twitter today, but I can't imagine they didn't know the score going in.

Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
I don't find anything unconcerning about a president who has trained his rabid followers to disbelieve the media, lies rather obviously but is received by his base as the most honest source for news (that's amazing...the idea that the best source for news on how the president is doing is the president), and is willing to fall into a battle of wills with the FBI over a Breitbart headline.
When the Republican president can hear second-hand about a radio show host's conspiracy theory, repeat it as fact, and be immediately believed by a majority of his base...it's pretty clear that there's no reason for the democrats or the media to do any soul searching. Sorry, but that's actually why Trump won.
