I see it as a middle of the road song. It gets better as the song progesses, but the first fifteen seconds or so is pretty boring. I like the layers of the song once we finally arrive at them, but something feels lacking. I didn't care for Backspacer and Avocado was marginally better so I'm hoping the record will be more like Avocado since it is evident we aren't ever going to get another No Code

Cause No Code didn't have habit or lukin . Odds are slim but I won't give up till I get the album. MYM is 4/5 for me.
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.

instead of the Ramones? :peace:

i think alot of the comparisons to bad religion are bc of the vocals. the guitar has some metal elements, especially the solo.

I've got an unfortunate feeling
I've been beaten down
I feel I'm done believing and
Now the truth is coming out
What they've taking is more than a bow (could very well be 'vow,' can't tell for certain)
They've taken your innocence and then they go around and burn and violate it (still not sure about this line, but it's close enough)

All along they're saying

Mind Your Manners

I caught myself believing
That I needed God
And if it's out there somewhere
We sure could use it now
Tried my patience
My patience tried
This world's no longer good enough, makes me want to cry

All along they're saying
Mind your manners
Someone say it (again, not positive, but it's in the ballpark, I think)

Self realized and metaphysically redeemed
May not live another life
May not solve our mystery
Right around the corner could be bigger than ourselves
We could will it to the sky
Or we could something real (still not sure, but I'm hearing either "real" or "live," it's the "something" I'm not sure about)

All along they're saying
Mind your manners
Always praying

Self realized and metaphysically redeemed
May not live another life
May not solve our mystery
Right around the corner could be bigger than ourselves
We could will it to the sky
Or we could something real

Go to heaven!
That's swell!
How do you like your
Living hell?!

LIVING HELL!

Nice work Tyler. Reading those gets me even more pumped for this track and the upcoming album. I like when Ed just goes right at it.

Some songs come at the right time. That is what this song is to me. The art work I saw before I heard the song made me really want to hear this. At first listen the opening riff ripped my head off. Who gave Stone his balls back? Maybe my favorite intro. Jeff and Matt wow. Mike solo great perfect for the song ,reminds me of the way he added to Daughter. The perfect little solo at the right time. Ed these lyrics kill me they really do. I wake up see the news and flip out way to much I feel like it is such a dark time , and humanity is going through so much I really get sick to my stomach I mean physically ill I want to puke. As humans we are turning on ourselves. Some lock others in basements for years. Some get sick and destroy lives. Some wage war on their own. Some speak of hope and change only to take and take some more The good no matter what side of the isle are left to pay and feel the pain. Ed and I are certainly different in terms of politics and ideals ,but we feel the same we want the best for our fellow man and that is the root of goodness. Some of Ed's lyrics that deal with these topics get pointed and preach a little much for me . This is real raw emotion on his part and I love that. I love this song. I also have respect of this song. Which I don't remember ever feeling about a song. I have never had disrespect for a song either. This isn't by any means my favorite Pearl Jam song, but it is the first song by anyone that feels alive.

It has to be something other than "we could something real", but that's what I keep hearing.

I've always sided pretty close to being a fanboy when it comes to PJ, but this type of song was the last thing I wanted to hear. Just don't care for this style of music. Hopefully this is the only song on the album like this, but my hopes aren't high.

I think there's definitely a "k" sound, like sunken, but it can't be "we could sunken nail" or "sunken hell", which is what it sounds like to me. The "or" should indicate a contrast to willing it "to the sky".

I have never been this anal about lyrics.

And I'm a big fan of anal.

What?

I feel bad for those that don't like this style. I think this mixed with folksy and epic slow jams are gonna be the future of this band. I think arena rock staples are gone. Given to fly will never happern again

He definitely doesn't voice the "se", and I'm pretty sure about the "k" sound.

Every time I write about this, I wonder why I care.

I'm out.

I'm just not hearing the "s" if it's "else."

But 'we could something else' makes the most sense. I'm really not sure what it is.
