Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
Fair enough, I'll pick two.
The Russia claims all carry significantly more weight that Trump's claims that Obama wiretapped him, 3 million illegal immigrants voted for him, and that 1.5 million people attended his inauguration. These statement are so ridiculously unfounded that his paid spokespeople (Conway, Spicer, and Huckabee) have all had to say some variation on, "I don't know what he bases that on. I can't speak for him. You'll have to speak to him yourself."
I can't really see how 2 and 3 are a problem AT ALL. 1 and 4 are not "Presidential," but they're so uncharacteristic of statements by Obama, I can only guess they're pulled out of context at the very least. Even if they aren't, they don't compare even a bit with comments about pussy grabbing, sending in the Feds to clean up the warzone of Chicago, or nobody knew healthcare could be so complicated.PHATJ wrote:5. Making Partisan and Divisive Statements
While President Trump is notorious for having uttered many phrases in extremely poor taste, and exhibiting unpresidential decorum, there are blinders on about the former president's own partisan and divisive rhetoric.
“We talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answers, so I know whose ass to kick,” Obama said after a Gulf oil spill.
“No, no, no. Don't boo. Vote,” Obama said before the 2012 election. “Voting is the best revenge.”
“I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face,” he also said.
“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun," Obama also said.
The FBI, CIA, and NSA all agree that Russia was hacking US computers to attempt to sway the election. It's not like someone tweeted this accusation. Are we really supposed to believe this administrations statements that this is nothing after finding out that Flynn, Sessions, and Kushner all had contact with the Russians after saying they didn't?10. Making Unproven Accusations
While much of the press is in a tailspin questioning President Trump over his unfounded allegation that Obama “wiretapped” his Trump Tower campaign headquarters, it goes beyond the obvious irony that the same media is furiously attempting to establish ties between the Trump administration and Russia that intelligence officials say are simply not there.
The Obama administration also accused Russia of hacking the election with the express aim of getting Donald Trump elected. Not only is there a lack of publicly verifiable “smoking gun” proof that the Kremlin ordered the hacks, it is not certain if the Russians were trying to get Trump elected, damage Hillary Clinton should she become president, or merely to undermine confidence in the democratic process. (This is not to say Russia did not intervene in the U.S. election; it most certainly did.)
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Not to mention they have 8 years worth of quotes to pull from for Obama, Trump said all this crap in less than 8 weeks in the white house!!B wrote:I can't really see how 2 and 3 are a problem AT ALL. 1 and 4 are not "Presidential," but they're so uncharacteristic of statements by Obama, I can only guess they're pulled out of context at the very least. People attack Trump for sounding like the dumbest human being who ever lived...but Obama incorrectly conjugated a verb once and no one said shit. This will be a plan where you can choose your doctor, and this will be a plan where you can choose your plan. And you know what the plan is. This is the plan. It’s a complicated process, but actually it’s very simple, it’s called good health care

CNN.com (and other outlets) completely ignoring the latest wikileaks story is pretty shocking even by liberal media standards.

I just found two stories about it instantly upon opening CNN's website. I really hope you're not going to put me into a position where I have to defend CNN.

There were none the three times i checked yesterday, and today there is one buried low enough that I had to scroll, under all the desperate defenses of their hero and the wiretapping nonsense.
It's a pretty fucking big story. It's headlining Reuters.
Edit: ok I see the other one now. It wasn't up when I made the post. Still buried.

There's two stories on the right side of the screen with no scrolling required. And I agree it's a big story.

Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
The main problem with CNN and other outlets is not liberal vs. conservative, but access journalism vs. outsider/investigative. If there was a liberal bias that overwhelmed being diminutive to the administration is in power, reporting on the leadup to the Iraq war would have gone much differently.

Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
Sorry I was talking about the mobile version. It probably deserves more attention than "Obama is really mad" (even though he's wiretapped all of Europe before) and relegated to the "this also happened" section.. Yesterday there was nothing about it that I could find.digster wrote:There's two stories on the right side of the screen with no scrolling required. And I agree it's a big story.

Let me just say, though, you'll find no one who's a bigger proponent of the argument that CNN can be woefully bad at informing the public than me. I'll stick up for print reporting without much reservation, but I think CNN and that entire cable apparatus is stunningly poor.

CNN's international site (edition.cnn.com) leads with "How were they leaked?"BurtReynolds wrote:Sorry I was talking about the mobile version. Yeah the tiny amount of coverage I've seen on it on liberal sites like Huffpo is "who is responsible for this leak?", and not "HOLY SHIT the CIA can do what?!"ABNorman wrote:CNN's international site (edition.cnn.com) leads with "How were they leaked?"BurtReynolds wrote:Sorry I was talking about the mobile version. Wikileak's the only story worth watching here - it even managed a (fairly lucky) main headline in 2012, beating Obama's re-election, a bus crash, and North Korea before running up against the Trayvon Martin story. That's gotta be a contender for easiest run to the main page.ABNorman wrote:CNN's international site (edition.cnn.com) leads with "How were they leaked?"BurtReynolds wrote:Sorry I was talking about the mobile version.
