I'm mildly surprised by anyone who didn't already think that the government could and would do these things, tbh. Maybe I just watch too many movies.

I think both 10club and the CIA have put tapps on the lines of RM. No question.

But seriously, are you guys really shocked that our government would do this? Would you also be shocked if I told you other western-civilized countries more than likely do this too? Despite being "liberal" and "European", it happens.

It's hard to be shocked by anything anymore, but it's still a pretty big deal when the CIA is doing whatever it wants, especially when they are targeting Americans and American companies.

Ok, I've been away from my computer a lot today, so I ask this sincerely: was there something among those leaks that showed that the CIA was targeting Americans or American companies here without a warrant?

They are creating and maintaining exploits for products made by Apple, Google, Microsoft and more. Is that not enough? Beyond that is there any doubt they are targeting Americans without warrants? I think that's been made painfully clear in past leaks already.

But secret police are the price we pay for civilized society I'm told.

Even if they are only using it for legitimate reasons, the sheer scale of the leak and the capabilities the CIA has is more than a little newsworthy I think, especially considering their fights with Trump lately.

Sorry, I don't know why I'm so angry. I mean, in just a few short months I got to see

- a cartoon character elected president and leader of the free world
- The CIA, FBI and White House at war with each other
- dysfunctional Congress (nothing new, but still nice)
- record levels of distrust in the media and other institutions
- socialism and globalism in complete retreat
- massive anti-government protests

And we've only just started!

As someone who finds himself falling deeper down the black hole of libertarian thought, this is awesome! What a time to be alive!

You can't wage a war of words against a misinformation structure that cuts all potential corrective agents out of the list of trustworthy sources.

What the democrats need to do is stop trying to analyze why they lost and just be as direct and loud as possible. The Republicans keep giving them free ammunition, and they keep classic Democratting it. It's like watching the Super Bowl over and over again.

Yeah, but, is anyone even surprised by this leak? It just feels like, "yeah...eh". It is wrong and it is scary, but it's not a shocker.

After Snowden, it's hard to muster any shock about what the CIA can and does do. To be honest, I'd be disappointed if they couldn't hack into my car and make me drive off a cliff.

It may have already happened.
