Is there an essential "Rockin' In The Free World" rendition?

Post by pj_boot »

Hi, I don't think "Rockin' In The Free World" was released as a studio recording. (If it was, anyone have it in lossless?)

Is there an essential rendition/recording of this song from the Ten/Vs./Vitalogy era? Also, is there an essential one played after the Vitalogy-era? Thanks.

It's like he came from the "Invent an RMer" thread.

This is the answer.

My other personal fav is Toronto 2011 when Neil Young enters Stone-side with Mike's guitar and plays an insane 6 minute solo.

It's almost as good as the alternate lyrics created by UJam.

Strat nailed it.

I do like the version from Boston Garden in 94, too.

Yup. The power of Grohl on drums for this song is unmistakable and propels it to the top of the list. Add perfect vocals and top notch solo from Mike - unbeatable.

Strat's right. The version that appears on Touring Band 2000, I think from Albuquerque, is also excellent.

Finsbury Park 1992 was the first version I ever heard and its still my favorite. I still remember how exciting it was taping it off the radio and being scared to death the tape would run out before the concert was over.
