Finally got to finish "Miss You Already" last night with my wife. God damn that ending. All I could think about at the end was how peaceful she looked after she died and was no longer in pain. Made me think about my brothers wife and the wife of one of my friends, both of whom died from cancer last spring within two weeks of each other. Both my brother and friend said they were happy their wives died, because it meant they were no longer in pain. Also made me think about how much pain my own wife is in - and has been for a year plus - and how much I would give to see her pain free, but also what that would mean for me and my son.

So yeah, I had a tough time finishing that movie.

Also, is this normal?

Also watched "The Girl With All the Gifts". Almost better than the book, but since I hated the book that's not saying much. I have been hearing a lot of buzz about it saying it's a good zombie movie. It's not a good zombie movie. Though I'm glad they fixed the ending, the book went on far too long. Also kind of glad they didn't try to explain the zombies like the book did because man that was a shit bit of science. Basically suddenly going, "SCIENCE WORDS. I CAN TALK BIG SCIENCE BECAUSE I KNOW YOU, THE CHARACTER, ARE SMART. I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE READER THOUGH. FUCK THEM." The whole book was just a bunch of archetypes running around the English countryside/London anyway.

Funnily enough both movies had Paddy Considine in them.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I liked it, actually. It's refreshing to see a carefully constructed and classically directed movie for a change, especially after an incompetent disaster like Skull Island.

Watching it actually made me wish Zemeckis had made Skull Island. He has the classicist knack that movie needed.

haven't seen hannah yet...there's still maybe 8 or so allen films i haven't seen, but i think radio days is top 5 for me easily
