Okay, fair enough.

Sorry.

I just hate Zemeckis. I think he's probably the biggest hack and most overrated "famous" director in movie history. Normally, I appreciate your opinion and take it into account when I see things. I like having someone in my life who sees thins so totally differently. And I give you the benefit of the doubt above almost anyone. But Zemeckis is where I draw the line. That guy should never direct anything. I hate him. He has no style, no tact, no vision, and relies on bullshit trick photography. He's a mess and a nightmare. I'd rather see just about anyone direct anything than Zemeckis ever again in my life. You just struck a nerve with me. But what do I know? I'm kinda stupid and really committed to my own preferred style/aesthetic. So... don't listen to me. That's why I tried to say it wasn't a big deal. But, fuck, I hate Robert Zemeckis so much. What a fucking joke that guy is. Has there ever been anyone as successful but less deserving? I'm having a hard time thinking of anyone. YUCK.

But, again, you're way better at this than me. I'm sure I'm missing something.

Wait, I'm confused. Do you like Zemeckis or not?

BTTF is fine but Cast Away is the true Zemeckis masterpiece.

Oh yeah, what a piece of work.

Im sure Joey hates it because there is no female empowerment. I mean Helen Hunt is such a slut, right?

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

The Informant! is a great little movie that really surprised me by the end. I agree that it's one of Damon's best performances.

tragabigzanda wrote:The Informant. Odd film. Sort of like Erin Brockovich's nerdy little brother. Killer dialogue. Visually, it leaves a lot to be desired. It's got the typical Soderbergh look, but the office lighting sort of ruins that look. Damon is excellent -- one of his career-best performances, full of subtlety and a cute awkwardness. But I never cared for his character enough, and the film's stakes never felt high enough for me to give a damn.
I goddamn love this movie!

Castaway is fine if like over the top directing and a one of kind performance. Tom Hanks makes that movie. Everything else about it is stupid. There's literally a 20 minute montage of a camera ON A FEDEX PACKAGE. Zemeckis is insane.
