Mike also gave a condescending laugh when Stone gave Dave A. a shout-out in their Grammy win for STBC, even though Dave was the drummer on that track. Only Stone liked him by the end.

The band voted (or maybe Eddie decreed) and he was the friendly face to break the bad news.dimejinky99 wrote:The Argonaut wrote:Mike also gave a condescending laugh when Stone gave Dave A. a shout-out in their Grammy win for STBC, even though Dave was the drummer on that track. Can you see Stone at the time taking an order pretty much lead by ed to go do that?
It's weird it wasn't the manager tbh. Maybe stone genuinely liked or at least respected the guy. Normally bands get the manager to do that stuff.

Re: HALL OF FAME!!!!!!
That would just be wrong. Stone was showing respect by doing it himself. If a manager had done it, that would be inappropriate and mean. Stone could let him down easy.dimejinky99 wrote:The Argonaut wrote:The band voted (or maybe Eddie decreed) and he was the friendly face to break the bad news.dimejinky99 wrote:The Argonaut wrote:Mike also gave a condescending laugh when Stone gave Dave A. a shout-out in their Grammy win for STBC, even though Dave was the drummer on that track. It would also be a passive aggressive move for Stone to make against Eddie. "You want him gone? Fine, but one of us should be a man and tell him face to face. I guess it has to be me."The Argonaut wrote:That would just be wrong. Stone was showing respect by doing it himself. If a manager had done it, that would be inappropriate and mean. This and more will be revealed in my upcoming novella, "I Got This Shitty Tattoo and All I Got Was Fired By Stone: The Dave A. Story."

Anyone actually visiting Cleveland to see the induction or exhibit or whatever the fuck, you're invited to come share a bowl of the dank and a classy Ohio beer like Hoppin' Frog or Great Lakes with me.

Re: HALL OF FAME!!!!!!
BlastEcho regrets to inform Pearl Jam fans that the story about former member Dave Abbruzzese not agreeing to participate at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in April is FALSE. BlastEcho apologizes to Mr. Abbruzzese, Pearl Jam fans and anyone else who was misled by this story. The intent was never "fake news," but rather the result of being duped by someone posing as Mr. Abbruzzese. Our deepest apologies.

I do think Dave should be inducted. He was behind the kit when this band was at it's popular peak. I'm not sure how I would react publically, but there's no doubt I would be pretty fucking sad/mad about it.

For sure. And I would assume he doesn't want to sit there watching 5 asshats get an award that he feels that he not only deserves but feels that those asshats should have battled for him to share.Kaius wrote:I do think Dave should be inducted. Re: HALL OF FAME!!!!!!
Shit is getting very interesting now. This is a moment the fans, and moreso Dave himself have been waiting for.
I wonder if they've connected on the phone in recent weeks. Something tells me that may have happened, I dunno. There's just gotta be a lot for them to talk about. Mostly on Dave's part, I'm sure he needs that healing moment. I wonder if Ed and Jeff may have had a "fuck, what did we do? We could have handled that whole thing better" with Dave going "yeah, I'm glad you guys now feel regret, but I'm the one living with the decision, you fuckers." Can someone do a Some Kind of Monsters thingy on this? This could easily be a whole part 2 of PJ20.
All that said, it's a band situation. You can be a great player, but you're job is just as much understanding that you've got to fit in with the others and knowing the power dynamics. But shit, they were all in their 20s back then.
I'm sure the other drummers' situation is pretty easy. Krusen is already in, but they haven't seen each other in forever, so that will be the next awkward one after Dave A. Jack is still buds w/ Ed and Matt Chamberlain is cool w/ Matt and Soundgarden.
Man, they better setup some 'get to know you time' before the ceremony, or it can be super strange doing that whole deal in front of everyone. See: Blondie, Talking Heads, Van Halen, GnR, etc, etc, etc.
I hope it is cathartic, for them and for all of us. But I also hope it isn't ugly like some of others noted above. I've always held PJ as the anti-rock story where the typical cliched rock n roll drama doesn't occur.

And furthermore, I wonder if the PJ guys have really addressed that Dave A 94 situation with each other.
