New topic for bitching:
Anyone else disappointed PJ (mainly Ed) haven't made up with Dave A.? I was so disappointed he wasn't involved in PJ20 at all (doc or festival). He was such an important part of the band during their rise. I love Matt but I do miss Dave's energy and exuberance at times. I don't want him to rejoin permanently or anything but sitting in on "Go" some night would be pretty kick ass. C'mon Eddie, it's been 19 years—sure Dave liked guns but you ended up marrying a supermodel. You're even.

The only reason I can think of to not make up with Dave A is that if they did, they'd be obliged to let him back in the band.B wrote:Yeah, I can feel that feel.darthvedder81 wrote:New topic for bitching:

Not as long as Matt wants to be there, but wouldn't it be interesting if Matt decided to go back to SG full time and to replace him they brought Dave A backharmless wrote:The only reason I can think of to not make up with Dave A is that if they did, they'd be obliged to let him back in the band.B wrote:Yeah, I can feel that feel.darthvedder81 wrote:New topic for bitching:

That's what I mean, they wouldn't want to get rid of Matt, but you know they'd be lying awake at night thinking about the ex.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:Not as long as Matt wants to be there, but wouldn't it be interesting if Matt decided to go back to SG full time and to replace him they brought Dave A backharmless wrote:The only reason I can think of to not make up with Dave A is that if they did, they'd be obliged to let him back in the band.B wrote:Yeah, I can feel that feel.darthvedder81 wrote:New topic for bitching:

And yes it would be interesting... I'd probably feel sad about it for all of 5 minutes. Those 5 minutes would be heartfelt and genuine.

I've always wished i could have heard the band live with Dave and Jack, so even though it wouldn't be the same as the old days, i would be excited to hear Dave even though i love Matt being in the band.harmless wrote:That's what I mean, they wouldn't want to get rid of Matt, but you know they'd be lying awake at night thinking about the ex.Dr.

I personally think that the quality of their late music would skyrocket with a more interesting drummer. I've always felt that. But I can't prove it, obviously.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:I've always wished i could have heard the band live with Dave and Jack, so even though it wouldn't be the same as the old days, i would be excited to hear Dave even though i love Matt being in the band.harmless wrote:That's what I mean, they wouldn't want to get rid of Matt, but you know they'd be lying awake at night thinking about the ex.Dr.

Is it Ed and PJ that don't want to make up with Dave, or vice versa (apologies if this is known)?

Re: General Pearl Jam Bitching
I thought it was low that he was so slighted in PJ20.
I enjoyed what he did but realistically I'm not confident we would have gotten anything close to No Code, Yield or maybe even the Binaural collection with him. I'd gladly take the past 3 albums if they have been the payment in getting 96-2000. I personally like Matt . I think his work in SG has been better than PJ. I'm not a drummer but I enjoy the combo of Jeff and Matt better than Jeff an Dave A overall.

Re: General Pearl Jam Bitching
The band has been pretty clear in the past about Jack Irons being the thing that kept them from killing each other and breaking up. Not only do I absolutely believe we never would have gotten close No Code or Yield or Binaural or even Riot Act with Dave A, I'm pretty confident we wouldn't have gotten anything after Vitalogy. Of course, I don't know for sure. I'm not in the band. I don't know any of them personally. But if what we've read in the past is even a little bit true, I have to believe they wouldn't have lasted much longer with Dave.

It would just be fun to have Krusen, Abruzzessezzeeesseesees, Jack, and Matt on stage for the RRHOF induction.

i don't think eddie's thing with dave a. is a grudge really, it's a personality clash and eddie figures they just wouldn't get along even now. surely we've all had friends or relationships with people that were once strong but now have no interest in rekindling.

Yeah but that's the thing--I'm not asking them to let Dave in the band again or go on playdates with Eddie. It would be nice if they could be civil enough to, you know, acknowledge his existence and place in their history. The only crime the man committed was having fun playing in a band and doing interviews with Modern Drummer. What a monster. Even Stone has said on the record that the falling out was hardly just Dave's fault.

Yeah but not all of us have been in wildly successful and influential rock bands. For the sake of fandom and what the band meant to people in 1992-1994 why not swallow your pride for once? Even KISS did this on Unplugged.spike wrote:i don't think eddie's thing with dave a. is a grudge really, it's a personality clash and eddie figures they just wouldn't get along even now. surely we've all had friends or relationships with people that were once strong but now have no interest in rekindling.

In fairness they didn't slight him. They just didn't feature any of their drummers at all other than Matt
