I really love one of these songs. I'm really indifferent to one of these songs. And I goddamn hate one of these songs.

Smile.

No contest.

Smile just. Habit used to be bottom of the pile but lately it's grown a lot. Next year this could be different.

Habit has that terrible chorus, and Eddie sounds awful, but the verse lyrics are strong, the riff is a monster, and that outro jam is off the charts. It's a strong song.

I don't like Neil Young, and there's too much Neil Young in Smile, but it's a nice song.

It's not fair to call I'm Open juvenile (it's not) but the song feels too self important. If it thought it was just a bit less profound it would be much better.

Is one of the single most embarrassing moments in Pearl Jam history. I want to throw up every time I hear it. Not the entire song, Habit, mind you. Just that fucking line. Habit is bad. But it's not half as bad as that moment in the song.

I always enjoyed the different "speaking as a child..." lines in concert when I was young and collected tapes. Always a fun surprise

I heard that Ed did an anti-Trump version of this song, singing, "Never thought you'd grab it"
