Let the Records Play is one of the only moments on the last two records that I can listen to without wondering where it all went horribly wrong.

i agree, people seem to despise this song but i was encouraged by it when i heard it. they never seemed to do anything interesting with it live though, which was surprising to me ... seemed like it had a great framework on which they could do some extended jamming and soloing or something ...

Honestly the only way you could make "Let the Records Play" even worse is by putting a fucking jam section in it

there should be a section where they hand their instruments off to their techs so they can do a country line dance together.

LTRP is an awful song. If it were released as a b side like hitchhiker...it would get more love That is the problem with modern day PJ. their standards have been lowered.

I agree with this. And I also love the intro/verse riff, it's fun and dirty. The chorus is what ruins it.

I agree with this. And I also love the intro/verse riff, it's fun and dirty. The chorus is what ruins it.

Someone here pointed out that this song is int he vein of T rex. Especially the chorus.

So, that made me understand the song a little bit better with that context.

This is tough, because all three of these songs would have beaten quite a few other Riot Act songs if they hadn't been pitted against each other. I'll go with All or None; the lyrics are lovely, and the way Ed approaches the song is fantastic. This is Exhibit A that sometimes holding back means it's all the more affecting when you push things up even just a little; think of how powerful that last verse feels, and all he does is shift an octave.

This song also has, bar none, my favorite Mike solo ever on record. I think Mike's a great guitarist, but his solos have never really moved me, with this being one big exception.

I like this, digster. And I love All or None. I would be happy to see it advance. My vote still goes to Cropduster, I've always loved it and I think it's deserving, but I may have to listen to them both to make sure. Either way one of them is going to win, so I'm happy.

maybe im using riff wrong, but gsmf, the fixer, just breathe, and got some are all good. there are a number of really good songs on L-bolt but the guitar beds are not particularly memorable

Man, I ADORE all of these. All top shelf songs. But, I gotta go Cropduster. That was an early favorite when Riot Act first dropped and has only gotten stronger over time. The song has aged better than almost any other Pearl Jam song I can think of right now. It's another one that belongs in the top 5 conversation.

Won't be sad if either of the other two take it, but goddamn I love Cropduster.
