Force of Nature has a flat beginning and turns into an excellent song.

Force of Nature is a good song to listen to with headphones. More going on than first appears.LetMeSleep wrote:They use the studio well in this song. More so than SoS.stip wrote:Force of Nature has a flat beginning and turns into an excellent song.

Force of Nature is terrible.
This is between The End and Speed of Sound. I'm going with Speed of Sound.

Re: The End vs. Speed of Sound vs. Force of Nature
I like all of these. The End lost a little something as the raw immediacy of the song became a bit too familiar, and the lyrics aren't good enough to continue to keep it as interesting as it first was.
Speed of Sound has really good lyrics, and I like the cacophonous take on it on Backspacer, but wish it was recorded with the rest of No Code.
Force of Nature is my favorite song on the album. After a clunky first verse and admittedly shitty intro it is a great song. strong melody, excellent lyrics, committed performance, and a fantastic outro. One of those songs I've never gotten tired of and am always in the mood for.

The End is a lovely little song. Despite the unadorned nature of the song, I've really never tried to dig too far into the lyrics. The guitar progression coupled with the melody is a nifty piece of writing. Speed of Sound is fairly blah and Force of Nature is dull and unmemorable in almost every respect.

SOS is great. Never understand the dislike for the production. I love it so much.
I also love the other 2 but I gotta give it to speed of sound. I like that the band did something with an EV song in such a way. Most EV tracks these days feature the band playing right along side EV doing little to nothing or the exact same thing. This feels like they put thought into the arrangement and production.
And its a great fucking melody.
And lasers. Freeking lasers.
