Ooh! Ooh!

Then Rey could be the blood of Ezra and Sabine!

Right?! I mean it does work. It would make the growth of Ezra and Sabine worthwhile and it gets them both out of the picture during the films.

Vaders castle on Mustafar is 'where Jedi go to die' according to the rogue one visual guide.
I have a feeling we're gonna see kanan at least end up there in season four.

I still really don't care about Ezra. I'm all for him dying at this point.

How is it he knows where is Obi Wan is and DOESNT TELL THE REBELLION?
How is it Ezra senses Kenobi is alive and kanan doesn't?

I don't necessarily like Ezra any more than I did before. I just think his going dark no longer makes sense narratively. He could die, sure. But I just don't see Disney killing off the kid. But stranger things have happened.

He probably does tell the Rebellion. In Twin Sons they all seem to think he's definitely dead. But then in R1 Mon Motha tells Bale Organa to contact his Jedi friend. How did she find out about Obi-Wan? I'm sure Ezra told her. Makes sense given her relationship with the ghost (based on that episode a few weeks back AND the fact that Hera is in R1).

I didn't get the impression that Ezra sensed he was alive as much as he fell into Maul's trap. Maul tricked him, used him, played on his Force sensitivity and Ezra believed him. Or could also be that Ezra is naturally stronger than Kanan and his powers are more attuned to that sort of thing. We say that with Anakin and Obi-Wan in the prequels, too.

:nice:

Also, keeping Ezra alive gives a little more weight to the movement in the stories in which the idea and concept of a Jedi has steadily slipped away for more subtle reasons. Instead of a simple, literal, they were all killed.

Luke is the last one because other force sensitive users moved away from its dogmatic teachings. I don't know. Sounds interesting to me.

Yeah I gathered that Ezra was tricked by Maul about "sensing" Obi-wan.

I don't think Ezra tells the rebellion. I think he understood from his brief discussion that since he "wasnt supposed to be there" that it was best to keep that part of it a secret.

Mothma knows about kenobi as Bail would have told her. She's leader of the rebellion. It's imperative that she knows.

She won't find out off Ezra. She's long known where Obi Wan was before this episode happens.

I don't know. That seems like a pretty big assumption to me.

It's a way bigger assumption to think Bail DIDNT tell her and Ezra did. In fairness

Either way it's a big moment that I hope Rebels will capture.

While I firmly understand why Ezra didnt tell anyone.. I dont think anyone is saying Ezra told Mon Mothma Anything. I think people are curious why he didn't tell his friends.

More importantly, can chopper keep his mouth shut?

Raises the question also that why didn't Bail reach out to Yoda as well as obi wan.

Maybe, sure. And that's always how I thought of it. But this episode raises the possibility that Ezra tells her. It's not out the question now. That's all I'm saying. If Bail has told everyone else that he's dead (which we can guess is true based on this episode) I think it's totally possible he never told Mon Mothma.

I wouldn't be surprised if we never have a specific answer to this. I don't expect to see a scene where Ezra tells Mon Mothma. It would be cool, but I'm not expecting to see it.

Here's my logic about moving forward with some of these characters, force-sensitive ones included:

There is currently a whole bunch of young kids that got to know Star Wars through the TCW and Rebels series. I have multiple friends who have shown them to their kids and then watched the movies. Yes the kids love the movies, but they are well versed in all the other characters out there, that they have seen more often due to the frequency of the animated series. Exiling people like Ahsoka, or Ezra, or even tabling the Sabine story for a while, but then keeping the ability to bring them back or references to them in the future (how long are they going to keep the Skywalker bloodline going, really) will keep these now children interested as they grow into adults and still want to follow Star Wars.

And characters like Sabine and Ahsoka have brought a whole new fanbase of young female viewers. My friend's daughter dressed up as Sabine this past halloween. When a friend of hers asked who she was supposed to be, she answered "only the coolest chick in the galaxy".

With Sabine, Ahsoka, Ezra, and to a lesser extent some of the "villains" in TCW and Rebels (that we don't know the fate of), there is a great foundation for really expanding this universe yet keeping it flowing with the "main" storyline.

tl;dr

This is an excellent post, Ruddo. And a great angle that I hadn't really considered since I don't have kids and my friends who have kids either have asshole kids or kids that are still too young to watch Star Wars, even Rebels.

You really nailed it with that post.

I do think creating that Mandalorian story line will help serve a couple important purposes. They'll get to expand the universe while keeping a lot of these new characters out of the immediate film universe. That's just my gut feeling though.

Yeah, I won't be surprised in the least to see the new series set on Mandalore.
