Red Mosquito vs. In My Tree

I still love the drums and bass line for IMT. The guitars on the chorus and bridge are great, but the guitars on the verse riff are sort of sleepy and boring, and the amount of reverb doesn't help bring the verses to life for me. As far as Eddie's introspective lyrics go, these are much better than some of his others (In Hiding, *cough*). It's a really good song, but it just doesn't quite hit the same level of fresh and exciting that RM does.

Fresh and Exciting is hardly the words i would use to describe our message board, trag.

There's something about In My Tree that sounds way more fragile and tenuous, despite the uptempo sweep it has (maybe this is what makes it a bit difficult to recreate live).

I posted this interview Matt did a while back, in which he discusses how he intentionally always hits his drums in the middle of the head. It's an odd choice for PJ, to attempt to forego more dynamic playing when many of their best-loved songs were written with drummers who took a more subtle approach.
