This song can't hurt anyone, its really good. There is a possibility the whole album will suck, but that's still 3 months away
I think this song lowers the possibility of the album sucking, so people don't want to admit that and open their hearts.
That makes sense
Though i don't think pj will hurt them again, i think they have learned their lesson

What makes you say that Doc? I think they will go on doing whatever the fuck they want and if we end up liking it, so be it kind of thing....

I don't remember listening to either The Fixer or World Wide Suicide very much after the initial glow of new pearl jam wore off.

But with Mind Your Manners, I keep coming back to it, I keep wanting to hear it. Every time I listen to it...I find something else that I like about it.

I think I really like this song.

It sounds great on the radio too!!

Story time:

I had sworn off Pearl Jam after hearing Riot Act once or twice. Kind of forgot they existed. My world had moved on and I had forgotten about them. Then one day I heard a song sang by a guy who sounded an awful lot like Eddie Vedder. I found out later that it was in fact Eddie Vedder and the song in question was Worldwide Suicide.

And I couldn't get over how much it sucked. I couldn't wrap my head around it.

Oddly enough though, that song made me wonder what the hell that band I was so in love with up until Binaural was up to, and I bought ST when it came out. Didn't care for it for the most part. However, the time between ST and Backspacer was the peak of my PJ fandom. I became obsessed with their live shows, and rediscovered their old music, and even discovered I was mostly wrong about Riot Act. I even started posting on band message boards like some kind of dork. It lasted until their next single The Fixer, which injected me not with indifference (Riot Act) or pity (worldwide Suicide), but abject bitterness and despair.

MYM sounds kinda cool though. It does sound kinda like 90s radio rock, and a lot like 80s punk, and yet somehow feels kinda modern as well.

So what I'm saying is... we could something.

It's a generic rocker, but a really good one. At this point I would be OK with an album full of generic everything... as long as they could get the good part right. Or they could something else.
