Pretty much every show except for Letterman sounds god awful - Conan, Fallon, SNL, etc. Whoever does the sound for those shows should be put before a North Korean firing squad.PHATJ wrote:Correct. Rocking intro, great drumming throughout, maybe not the most creative number, but the whole outro soars.

I'm gonna go with Got Some. But I like both of these songs on about the same level. Don't care. Had to vote for one. Went with Got Some.

Re: Got Some vs. Johnny Guitar
Both these songs, along with The End, are the Backspacer highlights in my opinion. Got Some started out as an early favorite, though it's fallen quite a bit in my estimation in the time since. I like the musical backing, though it's a bit simplistic. Matt is again a highlight on this song; that kind of whip-sharp fill between the first chorus and second verse is great, and it's moments like that that make me wish the "PJ does pop" experiment had gone better.
But Johnny Guitar is the winner. The music sounds a little spare and the guitars sound a little unadorned for a song like this. Someone mentioned the song evoked Yield; I don't hear that in the songwriting, but I think it could definitely benefit from that kind of production. I love the bridge in this song; it's a deceptively clever bit of songwriting from both Ed and the band, especially how Ed comes in and how it all comes crashing back into a verse.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Got Some blows. I don't like it and I hope it loses in grand fashion.
