My god that Little Drop of Poison is wonderful as well. its a bit more creepy and less playful than the one we are used to. Fuck.

Certainly pleasant enough, but I think it is served especially well by the orchestration -- the song really calls for it. It has echoes of Bacharach, as you say, but also of classic schlock country ballads.

I love Corrine died on the battlefield, though. I had it as the closing track on my last RM secret mix.

Having some general sense of your Waits preferences I think you'll enjoy the second disc more, Stip -- though some of my favorite early Waits tunes are on CD1 (the "Paradise Alley" stuff specifically).
