Someone (a mod, perhaps?) should combine all this stuff with my genius rant from theplatypus thread about SVT into a (the?) SVT thread proper.

The only sliver of doubt is what PHATJ said about the e-bow argument. If this is COMPLETELY post-recording, why would Ed say, "Do you wanna try an e-bow there?" And why would Stone be so confused about where it's supposed to come?
I think you're mixing two things here. The conversation about the e-bow is about the practicality of getting to an e-bow; at 19:53, Stone says "I can't get to an e-bow coming out of a finger-picking part. The first note is right there on the one." He's not gonna make it to an e-bow on time because of the part he plays immediately preceding it. At 20:55 Stone even says "what about this?", and shows Ed what the part would sound like without the e-bow, but Ed is clearly not sold because he likes the e-bow sound so much. So Ed ends up playing the e-bow, as he has done since (this is actually pretty nifty; we're seeing the origins of why Ed has played that e-bow live for almost 20 years now). They are talking about how to replicate a part that's already been recorded.

(What's funny is that after all of this, when they finally play "Wishlist" in full later in the video, Ed still doesn't get to an e-bow on time, missing the entire first half of the section)

Stone was never confused about where the e-bow went; the "do you know where he wants it" thing is in reference to who's gonna play that hammer-on coming out of the final chorus. That whole thing was about how vague Ed was being by saying it was "at the end". Like the e-bow thing, the conversation is more about the logistics of who's gonna play what part. I like that stuff. A glimpse at the division of labor of a three-guitar attack.

Yeah maybe the interviews were from the recording process, and the performances were later?

Naw it was all after. Watch it again with the thought that it was made after Yield and all their interview comments line up and make perfect sense

I never even considered that any of it was filmed during the recording of Yield.

Considering that a lot of their recording process is probably pretty piece mailed (different guys in the studio at different times, and BOB stitching the together), it makes sense that in SVT they are trying to figure out how to play these songs together in a live setting. Not necessarily just for the Rolling Stones opening act (if I remember correctly they only played a few Yield songs), but they were kicking off their Yield tour just 3 months later in Hawaii

Yeah but their recording process has varied wildly through the years. BS & LB were pretty similar but otherwise, it's usually a different animal each time out.

You never revisit old arguments even after it's been settled?
