What do you think of a 1 year deal for 8 million with incentives up to 10 million?

The funnier aspect is that the Chiefs signed Bennie Logan as a Poe replacement to nearly the same type of contract that Poe got.

Which leads me to believe the Chiefs really think Poe's done. He's had major back issues and there has been some talk that he has a tendency to quit on plays. Unless Poe just really wanted out, I can't see any other reason why the'd let him walk and pay some other dude the same money.

At least he's buying them in spite of the Chargers instead of in support of them. They deserve to have Broncos and Raiders fans flooding their home games even worse than they did in SD.

The only thing that bothers me about the move is that they won't be playing there for a few more years, right? So what are they going to do, play in Oakland in front of a bunch of pissed off fans?

That's what Mark Davis wants to do, but I'm totally with you, I think this could be worse than the 1995 Browns if they actually do that. Problem is there's not a lot of good alternatives. Sam Boyd Stadium (UNLV) isn't on the same level as NFL stadiums, though I think at least you need to play preseason games there now to see if it can work. San Antonio would probably be interested in hosting the Raiders temporarily, but I'm not sure if Jerrah and Bob McNair would be thrilled with that. Same with St. Louis and Chiefs/Bears. Davis does not have a lease on the Coliseum in 2019, so if the Vegas stadium isn't done by then and Oakland tells them to walk off a plank, they may have to find somewhere temporary to play.E.H. That's why they desperately want to bring in Beast mode. But yeah, black hole and all.
Perhaps one day we may live in a world where owners of sports teams who reap all the profits and give next to nothing back, actually build their own stadiums without ripping the public off for that.
As long as there are cities without teams, I guess there will always be this pull up and leave card.
As much as I like and support my local teams, if they leave kick freaking rocks. The Flames are in Calgary now, can't remember when they were good last and the Thrashers are now the new Winnipeg Jets, last time I looked both the new and old Winnipeg Jets were pretty much garbage. It will be disappointing I'm sure for Oakland to lose one or even two pro franchises, but if they really want to see pro baseball they can go across the bridge without bankrupting the city of Oakland and it's not like it's that far to Santa Clara or LA and, they get better games on TV.
So yeah, history and all that, but screw owners trying to get new stadiums built on the public dole.

When the Oilers came to Nashville, they played their first season in Memphis and second season at Vanderbilt while the stadium was being built.Green Habit wrote:That's what Mark Davis wants to do, but I'm totally with you, I think this could be worse than the 1995 Browns if they actually do that.
