What movies are you watching?

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Moana. Looks beautiful. Their hair animation is amazing. Songs are rather ordinary. Pretty funny. Good movie for a cold grey day.

Moonlight. Fantastic. I loved literally everything about this film. The characters felt entirely real. The hand-held camera work felt visceral and immediate in a way that so many others strive for. The structure of the story was executed perfectly -- concise and honest, without needless exploration, over-dramatization, or other pointless padding. Every single performance was stellar, and the three actors playing Chiron somehow all managed to string together their individuals performances to create a cohesive portrait. Really superb, and just so ridiculous that a movie like Hell of High Water could even be considered to compete for a best picture nom with something like this.

I liked the photography and the edition, and a few stylish ideas in the direction....but i didnt liked anything else really...the story was a big wtf.

How do you mean? I agree with Peter Travers that we're watching a man build a protective shell around his being. It's a character study far more than it is a story, you know?

yes, its just this guy who cant seem to understand his feelings. Thats about it...i agree thats a character study, i just thought it wasnt that good.

Ghost In The Shell.

Its visually stunning, there are many well framed and beautiful shots and Scarlett Johansson is the best action star of its era. Is it good? Mmm well, its just ok...Sanders is a really shitty storyteller for sure, there is almost no nerve and pulse in this movie at all.

It was one of those films that I stuck with just because I was sure/hopeful that it'd all come together at the end - I should have known better. Plus the last King adaption Cusack and Jackson were in was tops!

Has anyone seen Wonder Boys (2000)? One of my favourite Dylan songs was written for the film (Things Have Changed) and with the likes of RDJ, Frances McDormand and Michael Douglas in it, I imagine it'll be somewhat good.

Downloaded it and hoping to find time later to watch it.
