Insignificance is an interesting song, and I like it a lot, but I have more of an intellectual than visceral appreciation of it. Unlike some of my favorite Binaural songs (Rival/NAIS) it's one where i feel the distance that is pervasive throughout that record undercuts a song that should have more immediacy to it. The 'it's instilled...' transition into the final chorus, for instance, should feel like a punch in the chest, and ends up feelings just slightly like a treatise.

Great lyrics, too. If you told me these were Eddie's best I'm not sure I'd argue.

Last Exit, on the other hand, is my favorite opener, one of the finest songs on my favorite album, and feels every bit as vital today as it did 23 years ago. Desperate but in control, an open wound holding back the blood through sheer force of will. It's amazing on every single level.

I'd vote for "Insignificance" over most "Vitalogy" songs, but not this one. "Last Exit" is one of those songs that just gets better and better over the years.

Insignificance. No hesitation here for me.

I love Last Exit and I expect it to win, which I'm totally fine with because it's a fucking monster track that I love. But Insignificance is, I think, the better song.

Ooh. Maybe I shouldn't be, but I'm surprised I'm the only vote for Insignificance at this point.

You are a lost cause when it comes to Binaural, friend.

Hmmm.

I need to listen to these both I think. But I just put on the 45 minute mp3 of Daft Punk's Live 1997, so I'll listen later and vote then.

I'll check in if anything interesting happens to me in the meantime, or if I go grab a coffee or something, seeing as I'm keeping y'all informed about my morning activities.

Unless you're voting for Last Exit, that should be your... final departure.

Insignificance takes this pretty easily for me.
I don't love Last Exit as much as almost everybody does, but it's still quite great.

Gotta say Daft Punk is not a bad way to get a slow morning off and running, I enjoyed that set.

OK, listened now, Last Exit it is.

And I am fanging for an Iced Coffee...
