However, I ended up feeling for Bodhi and Galen especially, and he was hardly in it. So I think there was some character development there.

'The say I like to work is using visual milestones. I'd love to see this I'd love to see this and this so we set those up and find ways to link them' - Gareth Edwards on Rogue One.
That explains so much.
Definitely do not want him anywhere near Obi Wan.

He liked it for that movie, it doesn't mean he wouldn't respect the movie and character and do something a little more character-driven. And as I've said before, this character (McGregor as Obi-wan) is already developed. Not sure how much more development that character needs.dimejinky99 wrote:'The say I like to work is using visual milestones. Re: Star Wars: Kenobi (2019)
That is true but it would very quickly turn into 'we don't have to do anything character based. We know him. Let's do some big shots' if it's Edwards.
What if this is this is like this awful poison chalice? We're getting Obi Wan but Edwards directing?
I can't see him wanting to go straight back into a star wars juggernaut only to be kid gloved and have his work scrapped and redone by another director again. Thankfully.

I have zero issue with Edwards directing an Obi-Wan film. He'd be a great choice. There are others I'd like to see tackle it, but if it's him, that's hardly a "poison chalice."

Same. I think dime is being a bit dramatic.durdencommatyler wrote:I have zero issue with Edwards directing an Obi-Wan film. He'd be a great choice. There are others I'd like to see tackle it, but if it's him, that's hardly a "poison chalice."

I'm just not a fan of Edwards really but with relation to Obi Wan I just want it to be really really great.

There's far too many people involved with these films to think one director is going to dramatically change a film for the better or worse.
But yes, a new director would be good.

Re: Star Wars: Kenobi (2019)
I think Edwards did a fantastic job with Rogue One. What i want in a kenobi film may not be the big action adventure film but rather a disturbing character piece of a man who failed to save the galaxy and now lives in isolation. Obi Wan found his redemption in Luke SKywalker in many ways and I want to know his struggle up to that point. I dont want a big grand adventure.
I dont know who'm i would like to see helm such a film .

This is partly why I think Edwards would be a good fit. Look no further than his film Monsters. Which is a dark, low budget, character film about surviving in a broken and terrifying world. It's not a huge action adventure film at all. The tone of Monsters is a lot like what I'd want from a Kenobi film, and what you've described above.Strat wrote:I think Edwards did a fantastic job with Rogue One. Having said that, again, I'd still like to see other people tackle the project. Cary Fukunaga would be my first choice.

Speaking of. I was doubtful about Treverow for 9?
His new film out next month looks really really heavy.
Might have written him off too soon but let's see
