I traded in that steaming pile of feces known as Mass Effect: Andromeda and picked up Persona 5. This may be a game of the year contender. Not joke. At least for games not named Zelda. The art. The combat. The story. Everything is so unique.

So much detail and thought went into Persona. You don't get many games like this.

Despite the glory that is Zelda and Horizon, I have a feeling my GOTY will be Super Mario Odyssey.

To be fair, it doesn't sound like they're addressing story/side quest issues that are baked in. You'd probably still be disappointed.

It's gonna be bad game no matter what, but I spent hours of life watching unskippable planet animations that can now be skipped. Fucking bullshit.

Wow I thought that was in there to hide loading screens. If you can skip it, then Bioware really shit the bed.

It's just a horribly designed and poorly thought-out game in every respect.

If I got one new big single player game for PS4, what should it be? Horizon? FFXV? I still haven't played Dishonored 2 either.

I'm going to be playing Persona 5 for awhile. A great prologue too. The combat is done so well.

I'd say Horizon and then Dishonored 2.

It's hard to describe or compare it to another game. It's a mixture of a lot of different genres. The combat is done inside dungeons with turn based combat - like the good, old, final fantasy games. You have a party of four but there's also a bit of pokemon because you can capture creatures. But it's done with a ton of style.

Outside of combat it's a social sim game set in Tokyo. Your strengthening bonds and gaining new skills with the people you go into dungeons with by attending class, doing side-quests and talking to them.

Spoiler: show
I've only done the elephant one so far. Took me quite awhile to figure it out. Very cool new take on dungeons, especially given the shrines.

Rito / Bird is the easiest. Then Goron / Lizard. Hardest is Geradu / Camel. Be sure to buy the fire gear, cold gear and heat gear. It costs a lot, but relying on elixirs sucks. You need both heat gear and cold gear for the desert.

How do you make elixirs? I have a bunch of stuff for them, but you can't really cook them? I just made it to Goron City and bought the gear to withstand heat.
