Seriously, is no one else watching Crashing? This is one of the best debuts in recent memory. The show is odd, sweet, kind-hearted, and genuinely funny (and as Mecca said, Pete Holmes is an easy guy to root for).

We usually don't watch until Wednesday or so, but this week got delayed some more. Soon!

I just now came in here to post about it and saw this pyramid

Yep, love it so far. I think it's an interested story about stand up comedy that needs to be told. As comedy consumers, we see the HBO specials, the Netflix specials, the Comedy Central vignettes... but you don't see the people busting their ass, working for free for hours, just to perform in front of 2-3 people so they can do the thing they really love

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Yep, love it so far. I think it's an interested story about stand up comedy that needs to be told. All very true...But I would expand and say that Pete's dream is the dream of every creative person, not just comedians. It's great fun watching him take his licks and get his wins. The ep with Sarah Silverman was so great!

yeah agreed. It's also interesting to see this personality of his, compared to the overly-ridiculous, loud guy that I've always seen on tv... which one is real??!

The Scott's Tots episode of The Office is brutal.

It's the only episode of the series that I've only seen once. I refuse to watch it a second time. I have seen every other episode at least 3 times and many episodes about a dozen times.

I've been really enjoying it. its like entourage but with comics who haven't quite made it yet, but his entourage keeps changing, and it's lighthearted, and nothing like entourage.

it didn't seem 100% clear to me that Jane realized Celeste's husband was the one who impregnated her. almost made it seem like she was projecting that onto him

The new ones are out real soon, right? I have a very fond childhood memory of pulling into a log cabin motel in the middle of Idaho when I was a kid, and we watched MST3K's take on The Crawling Hand. I was maybe ten years old, and my dad and I thought it was so silly; we giggled for two hours at that show, and today we'll still bring up the "hand, babe? hand, babe?" bit and chuckle.

Heh, I have similar memories of it with my dad. It's incredibly comforting to me.

My friend Matt loves MST3K more than pretty much anyone else loves anything. He even has his won "comedy improv" troupe in KC that rents out movie theaters and does this live. They sit there with mics and "MST" the movie. People pay like $5 a head to come and watch them slay old films.
