Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Now that it's out people are cottoning on to the fact that rogue one has about five times as many self referential nods and winks and fan servicey Star Wars tropes than force awakens has and is still accused of.
Dr evezan and R2 and 3PO being the worst offenders
It doesn't stand on its own. It totally depends on the oxygen of a new hope to work.
I hope to god the references and connections stop here. If there's any of it in the Han movie behind absolute necessity it'll be eyeroll time.

Doesn't work. Rogue One is set before A New Hope.
So basically, Johnson and May spent Trump's presidency fighting each other over how best to sell the NHS to Trump.

yeah but R2 and 3PO were around before a new hope. So were all the Rebels crew, etc.Let's all laugh at Rangers wrote:Doesn't work. Rogue One is set before A New Hope.

Rogue One is easily a top two Star Wars movie

Honestly?
I think this could have waited until the saga trilogy was done.
From everything I've read from the creators it's apparent that they literally made this film up as they went along. And then had to go back over it. And it shows. Edwards is overrated.
A ton of different reasons. I don't hate it. I just don't love it.

Plus I didn't like or care for anyone in it. The droid was funny. That's it.
Important part of any (Star Wars) films success is having likeable or relatable or even realistic characters regardless of their settings.
This has none.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Thanks LV for the reminder.
This film is to Star Wars as the hobbit movie was to lord of the rings.
Unnecessary but could have been amazing but ultimately adds nothing and is kind of embarrassing to the franchise.
I'll ask you again in a year are you still watching it and enjoying it.
Bets on that you won't.

And another thing!
They broke Lucas' main design rule. Audience should know exactly where they are by the design of the planet/landscape and not need to be told. It'll speak for itself.
Major screw up.
Hey let's take out the opening crawl to actually explain what's going on to the majority of people haven't read catalyst but let's add title cards for planets in case they get confused about where they are.
Fuck sake

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Fuck George Lucas plan. Time to evolve. its a great story, with beautiful new planets and scenery and absolutely adds depth to the entire universe. Hell, you didnt stop gushing about the first 10 minutes of ANH now because of Rogue Onedimejinky99 wrote:Strat wrote:its a great movie, D.
