Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
A crawl would have been totally gratuitous. And if it had one you would have bitched that the crawl should be only for the Saga films. This film told an interesting story in an interesting way. It introduced force sensitive non jedi in a believable way. It gave a basis for the rebellion. It actually acknowledged the Clone Wars. And Rebels.
In many ways, this movie in the long term is going to be the foundation for what has allowed multiple eras, mediums, and stories to begin to feel cohesive.

I'll probably get on board with this in a few years. Right now though I can't.
As an important aside all I'm seeing (and listening to) is people totally confused by it (where does it fit the saga? I had no idea what was going on. I thought the Death Star was blown up loads of times already? And yes more than all of that, it wasn't a sequel to force awakens and I only realised that afterwards and had no idea what was going on. That more than anything.)
I think they've misstepped the casual audience (aka the majority). That's why they should have left this alone until later.
Han movie is on the way. Cue the 'but he died!!!' Morons.

The casual audience doesn't give a shit whether or not its the 43rd Death Star. Fuck, Transformers 4 made 1.1 billion dollars worldwide.
I explained it to my fucking 6 year old ONCE and he calls it episode 3.9. People are fucking morons so it doesn't matter if they understand it.
The Regular People DONT GIVE A SHIT about what they do or do not understand.

Regular people are no dumber than the swathes of Star Wars fans asking for some sort of rogue one sequel or prequel.

I wish. It was and continues to be sort of ignored here outside twitter and a few forums.
Think it made a boatload here though?
Don't see that being possible. I only saw it three times in the cinema.

I can't comprehend how anyone would be stupid enough to not understand where in the timeline this takes place.

I need to get off my ass and buy this so I can see it again. I should probably just buy it off itunes but I'm still attached to hard copies of my favorite media.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Rewatched this last night, and that makes the third time I've seen it. I still like it quite a bit. There are definitely some flaws, the biggest one for me is the score. It's easily my least favorite of the lot. The CGI Tarkin / Leia is distracting too, but I don't hate it. More of a minor flaw for me. As mentioned earlier, JEJ voice is gone. Man, Vader sounds bad. Additionally, there is some missed opportunities with Saw and Bhodi for sure. Still though, even with the flaws, I think this is a better film than the last 5 SW films (ROTJ, prequels, TFA).

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
I love this movie! The only thing that could've made it slightly better is having a crawl at the beginning. They got everything else pretty much perfect. It's a great time to be a Star Wars fan!
