Re: HALL OF FAME!!!!!!
Yeah people are way overthinking this. Carrie Brownstein would be a fucking snooze. What's she really gonna say? "They were super nice, normal guys on tour when we opened for them." Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
One of the broadcasting legends of all time is inducting the band. Vedder played on his second to last show. Pearl Jam was one of his favorite bands. For years, PJ would only play his show (including a special 10-song set for the release of S/T). Letterman coordinated a "sponsor-free" show for them when they performed that mammoth "Hail Hail." They respect Dave and always wanted to impress him.
Anyone who sees this as anything other than a coup (especially so last minute) is high as a kite.

Oh, I totally wanted to see them jam with Neil. And, unfortunately, I'm guessing he might be really sick if he couldn't make it. Doubtful it was the flu. I REALLY hope I'm wrong.Strat wrote:Good points, evenslow.evenslow wrote:Yeah people are way overthinking this. Carrie Brownstein would be a fucking snooze. What's she really gonna say? The Pearl Jam section of Brownstein's book was very good, and in particular was pretty adept at bridging the public perception of the band with how the band actually operates, and the music they actually make. However, I was admittedly thinking of people who would probably be more familiar with the band's music than Letterman. I'm sure he'll be excellent.evenslow wrote:Yeah people are way overthinking this. Carrie Brownstein would be a fucking snooze. What's she really gonna say? Re: HALL OF FAME!!!!!!
why do we assume letterman doesn't know anything about the band?
Stipe would have been nice but i'm pretty happy about Letterman.

Re: HALL OF FAME!!!!!!
Peter Buck would've been a good pick but something tells me that isn't his bag. He didn't speak at REM's induction if I recall.
Who's betting they'll still play Rockin in the Free World?
Puddy from Seinfeld is a big fan, he's not available????

Funniest man in recent American tv history Inducting the most famously humourless band in the last great American musical trend.
It might actually be great.
