That's great. I love how accepting the kid was when the ump took the ball.

It was probably on Yadis chest protector, so he can rub up a ball before he gives it to the pitcher :D

Yeah I know. I almost responded to my own post with "Buster Olney".

I think I remember him saying Ian Kinsler was a HOFer at one point.

Kinsler's had a really underrated career. He's probably in the Pedroia/Cano category where he's surprisingly close but it'll still take a handful of good years (and maybe a couple milestones to cater to the old guys) to get in.

For as much as I cant stand Molina, and I CANT, hes the heart and soul of that team and has been for years now. I don't know of any other player, who can rally a team like he does? Ortiz and Jeter come to mind, but I cant think of anyone else playing in the game today.

And you look at how good the Cards pitching has been over the years hes been the catcher, they give him a lot of the credit so... Hall of Fame? He might be one of those ones that gets in not from the back of his baseball card, but from the other stuff that sabermetrics cant measure.

He absolutely should get extra credit for things that can't yet be measured like game-calling, pitch-framing, and other aspects of catcher defense, but there still has to be some kind of statistical performance baseline to get into the Hall of Fame.

I think Pedroia has a legitimate shot--not a first-balloter or anything like that, but I bet there will be a wave of sentiment about how he was a "hard-nosed" player, "played the game the right way," and stuff like that. A ROY, MVP, and 2 WS championships will also help. As will, I hope, this story:
[Pedroia] was stopped at the players' entrance at Coors Field in Denver during last year's World Series against the Colorado Rockies. The security guard didn't believe Pedroia was a player and shooed him away. Pedroia seethed. He produced his players' ID card, and the security guard questioned whether it was legitimate.

Pedroia, unable to contain his rage any longer, dropped a subtle reminder, much to the delight of Red Sox manager Terry Francona, who tells the story.

"He says, 'You don't know who I am? You don't know who I am?' " Francona says. " 'Ask Jeff fucking Francis who the fuck I am. I'm the guy who hit a bomb and just ended their fucking season."

I think Pedroia has a shot but he needs to avoid injury for a few more productive, consecutive years.

Guys, If Jim Rice can get in just for playing in Boston, Pedroia will get in.
