They broke up and when they reformed, Perry didn't want to do it. His solo career was while he was still in the band.

I'm pretty sure the original singer, has something wrong with his throat now? too many years of singing, just cant do it anymore? (or didn't want to continue to do it?)

the guy that's been singing with them the last handful of years, they literally found off youtube, singing Journey karaoke in Filipino bars...
