I've got to cop to being under-informed on the Saudis vs ISIL narrative. I wasn't necessarily trying to state that this was definitively a US-Russia job (even though that's exactly how my post reads); was just trying to make the point that there are a number of other narratives I'd believe before I buy into the "Assad attacked his people and Trump responded with swift justice" story. But your alternative theory is just as good as any.
