In a word? Yes. It sounds like the United employees were crew members being flown to a station for work, which is a little more than understandable (from an airline point of view) for someone being denied a seat. But why was the random selection was done after passengers had boarded?

Heard a statistic yesterday.
The death rate from violent crime is down 600,000 on five years ago and we live in a safer time than ever in history. This is the safest time in history.
Yet maybe because of that, the coverage of murders and particularly 'outrage' events like the man being taken off the plane, has increased exponentially. Leading to floods of momentary outrage on social media.
So is it just ever dwindling standards in journalism (given anyone with a camera phone can now be a reporter on the scene?) or is it a weird twisted social engineering project using the internet in a malignant sense to distract people rather than the tool for good it could be?
I'll say both but I don't get why the guy being taken off the plane is international news?
Airlines have always been wankers in this regard, making up their own rules. Sure it sucks they did that to him but it's headlines everywhere.

i still have nightmares from when i worked for united airlines..what a shit show..i used to run the flights to aspen which was the worst..everyday, all day long in the winter, the 86 seat jets were constantly booked to about 100-110
